Every country is different, but learning about new cultures can be shocking. Here are some cultural shocks most foreigners have a hard time getting used to when coming to the U.S:

Tipping culture
Most European nations don’t have a tipping culture and even find tipping insulting because it implies they don’t do well. They don’t realize American servers need the tips to survive, so they’re often shocked when asked to leave a tip.
Over-friendliness
Not everyone is comfortable opening up to a stranger, but that's not the case in the United States. People are overly friendly here. Greet someone? You might end up getting an invitation to have lunch with them. This may not sit well with people who are not used to this culture.
Paying their own bill
Visitors from some countries, such as India, are used to paying the bills of friends or families they're traveling with. However, this comes as a shock to them when they see every person paying their own bill at a restaurant in America.
Flags everywhere
We all are patriotic in one way or another, but tourists find it hard to absorb how patriotic Americans are. You can pretty much spot an American flag everywhere you go. Fourth of July or not, Americans don't need a reason to celebrate patriotism.
People dressing informally
The United States is not like Paris when it comes to fashion. That's why when tourists from the other side of the world visit the United States, they are surprised at how informal people in America dress. You can easily spot people in PJs shopping around Walmart or even malls.
In-your-face politics
Americans take politics seriously! The political discussions and allegiance can be more overt in America than in any other country, which can be startling for tourists.
Ice in drinks
Just like people love having warm drinks in Japan, people in the United States cannot drink anything without ice. If you don't want ice in your drink, you should mention that to the restaurant.
Portion sizes
While some may find meals in the United States a bit more expensive than in other countries, the portions justify the size. Tourists will be surprised at the amount of food they'll see on their plates when dining out.
Added tax in some states
Unlike many countries around the world, where taxes are included in the price, in the U.S., sales tax is added at the point of sale, which can confuse some tourists when paying the bill.
Fast food options
The variety of fast food in America is much higher than in many other countries. If you want to eat fast food, you'll end up getting confused about what to eat due to the availability of countless fast food options.
Smoking
In the USA, you must be at least 18 years old to buy cigarettes. Buying for someone under 18 is illegal. You'll also be taxed at a high rate for each pack of cigarettes you buy.
Legal age of drinking
While the legal age for drinking in Europe is 18, it's 21 in the United States. It's a crime to serve alcohol to someone under the age of 21. If you intend to party and drink in the States, you'll find it hard to do without drinks if you're underage.
