Grocery stores want to take your money. They raise their prices and make you buy things you don't even need. These 14 grocery store items are especially overpriced and not worth the extra cash. Make sure you completely avoid all of the foods on this list. Your wallet will thank you!

Pre-Cut Fruit
Pre-cut fruit costs way more than whole fruit. You may even pay double the price for the little bowls of prepared fruit. It is not hard to wash and cut your own fruit at home so skip the pre-cut stuff and you’ll save a ton of money while still getting the same, tasty fruit.
Frozen Meals
Frozen, heat-and-eat meals are a waste of money. The price is often high simply due to convenience. Sure, you can just pop the food in the microwave and then eat but you will pay a steep price for that luxury. Buy the same foods for less and prepare your own meals. It is definitely worth it!
Gourmet Coffee
Name-brand, gourmet coffee isn't always worth the high price tag. Try a few of the cheaper brands of coffee and you may find they taste the same or better. Just choose a similar roast and you will save money while enjoying pretty much the same coffee.
Berries
Do not buy fresh berries in the off-season. They will be overpriced and not even taste good. Berries should only be purchased in the warmer months if you want a fair price.
Craft Beer
Craft beers look cool but often don’t taste that incredible. The only thing astounding about most craft beers is the price tag.
Deli Meat
Sliced deli meats are extremely pricey. Sure, it is convenient and tasty but you are often paying for a bunch of salt and preservatives. Skip the deli meat and you will definitely save money on your grocery bill.
Prepared Salads
Premade salads come with a very high price tag. Not only are they overpriced, but they often don’t taste good. Don’t pay for old veggies and soggy lettuce.
Individual Potatoes
Skip the loose potato and buy in bulk! You will save money buying a bag of potatoes versus picking out the loose ones. Don’t worry, they are the same potatoes in the bag, just cheaper.
Individual Yogurts
One single yogurt is going to cost you. You can save so much just by buying yogurt in bulk packs or in a big tub. The singles are way overpriced!
Baked Goods
Grocery store baked goods are pretty pricey. Rather than buy baked goods, make them yourself for much less! Check out my list of fun things to bake and enjoy your time in the kitchen while also saving money.
Cereal
The price of a box of cereal is almost shocking. Per pound, it is one of the most expensive things in the grocery store. Skip the cereal and consider a new breakfast food.
Trail Mix
Trail mix is tasty but it is also very expensive. Rather than buy that costly premade trail mix, just make your own. Buy some nuts, dried fruit, and chocolate chips, mix them together and you are done!
Fresh Seafood
Most of the fresh seafood you find in the grocery store has been previously frozen. Lots of states actually have laws saying that all seafood must be frozen. So why pay more for "fresh" seafood when you can just head to the frozen food section and grab the same thing for less? Skip the seafood section and just shop the frozen aisles to save some serious cash.
Candy Bars
Those candy bars by the checkout line are there to tempt you into spending a lot of money. The price for an individual candy bar is seriously high. You are much better off buying candy in bulk rather than picking up a single bar near the cash register.
